Our Beliefs

What we believe about Jesus, the Bible, and the Church

Our Beliefs

New Hope Rising is a non-denominational church that believes in the full message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and are committed to living it out in our daily lives.

Here's what we believe about:

GOD AND REVELATION

THE BIBLE IS GOD'S WORD (The Scriptures Inspired)

The Bible is God's written revelation to people, divinely given through human authors who were inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is entirely true. The Bible is totally sufficient and completely authoritative for matters of life and faith.

(2 Tim 3:15-17,1 Thes 2:13,1 Pet 1:21)

GOD IS (The One True God)

Only one true and living God exists. He is the Creator of the universe, eternally existing in three Persons—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each equally deserving of humanity’s worship and obedience. He is infinite and perfect in all His attributes.

(Deut 6:4, Isa 43:10-11, Matt 28:19, Jn1:18)

JESUS IS GOD AND SAVIOR (The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ)

Jesus is both fully God and fully human. He is Christ, the Son of God. Born of a virgin, He lived a sinless life and performed many miracles. He died on the cross to provide humanity forgiveness of sin and eternal salvation. Jesus rose from the dead, ascended to His rightful position of authority in heaven alongside the Father, and will return in power and glory.

(Matt 1:23, Luke 1:31-35, Acts 1:9, 2:22, Heb 7:26,1 Cor 15:3)

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS GOD AND EMPOWERER (The Baptism in the Holy Spirit)

The Holy Spirit is supernatural and sovereign, baptizing all believers into the Body of Christ. He lives within all Christians beginning at the moment of salvation and then empowers them for bold witness and effective service as they yield to Him. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit should be a goal for every believer along with the ongoing experience of the Spirit-filled life.

(1 Cor 12-14, Acts 2)

GOD'S RELATIONSHIP WITH MAN

PEOPLE ARE GOD'S TREASURE (The Fall of Man)

God created people in His image for His glory. They are the crowning work of His creation. Yet every person has willfully disobeyed God—an act known as sin—thus inheriting both physical and spiritual death and the need for salvation. All human beings are born with a sin nature and into an environment inclined toward sin. Only by the grace of God through Jesus Christ can they experience salvation.

(Gen 1, 3:6, Isa 53:6, Rom 3:23, 5:12-19, 8)

SALVATION IS BY FAITH ALONE (The Salvation of Man)

All human beings are in need of a Savior. Our salvation comes only through a faith relationship with Jesus Christ, the Savior, as a person repents of sin and receives Christ's forgiveness and eternal life. Salvation is instantaneous. This salvation is wholly of God by grace on the basis of the shed blood of Jesus Christ and not on the basis of human works.

(Eph 2:5-8, Rom 3:22-25)

WHAT GOD DID IS WORTH REMEMBERING (The Ordinances of the Church)

The ordinances of water baptism and communion are powerful reminders to the individual believer and to the church of all that God has done for us in Christ. Baptism by immersion is our obedient response that symbolizes that our old self has died with Christ and that our new life is found in Him. Communion reminds believers that we have been made right with God through Jesus’ death and resurrection and that we share the promise of eternal life as we anticipate His return.

(Luke 22:14-20, 1 Pet 3:20-22)

GOD STILL HEALS TODAY (Divine Healing)

The same power of Jesus to heal the paralyzed, the blind and the sick, emotional and social wounds, the demon possessed, or to raise from the dead still exists in the church today. Like other spiritual gifts, healings will not cease until we are all in heaven with Christ. Is everyone healed here on Earth? No. That is a mystery. But many are healed, so we continue to pray with faith for the sick.

(Matt 10:7-8, Acts 8:7-8, James 5:14)

THE CHURCH IS GOD'S PLAN (The Church and Its Mission)

The Holy Spirit immediately places all people who put their faith in Jesus Christ into one united spiritual body, the Church, of which Christ is the head. The primary expression of the Church on earth is in autonomous local congregations of baptized believers. The purpose of the Church is to glorify God by taking the gospel to the entire world and by building its members in Christ-likeness through the instruction of God's Word, discipleship, fellowship, service, worship, and prayer.

(Eph 1:22, 23, Heb 12:23)

GOD'S PEOPLE MAKE A DIFFERENCE (The Ministry)

Every single believer in Christ has been entrusted with spiritual gifts and has the privilege and responsibility to contribute him/herself to the purposes of the Kingdom through telling others about Christ, through worship, and by building others up in love. Every member is a minister.

(1 Cor 12:4-11, 14-20)

THE HOLY SPIRIT SPEAKS THROUGH BELIEVERS (The Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit)

When Christians receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, they will experience the physical sign of speaking in tongues as demonstrated in the New Testament. This heavenly language cannot be understood or interpreted without supernatural intervention.

(Acts 2:4, 1 Cor 14:1-5)

OUR FUTURE

JESUS’ RETURN IS OUR CERTAIN HOPE (The Blessed Hope, The Final Judgment)

God promised that Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth to resurrect and judge the saved and unsaved. Those alive at the time of Christ’s Second Coming will be caught up in the air to meet Him. As the all-knowing and all-powerful Creator and Judge, God can and should be trusted today, and with our future.

(1 Thes 4: 16-17, Mark 9: 43-48, Matt 25: 31)

THINGS WILL GET EXCITING IN THE END (The Millennial Reign of Christ, The New Heavens and the New Earth)

At the end of time as we know it, Jesus Christ will return! He will reign on earth for 1,000 years with all true believers. He will conduct a final judgment of the wicked - those who have already died and those still alive - everyone who did not accept His free gift of salvation. Then, Jesus will create a new heaven and a new earth for everyone who has chosen to love and follow Him. When and how will all of this happen? God alone knows for certain. We look forward to and work hard until that time when we will be with Jesus forever!

(Rev 20: 4-6, 21:1-8)
